Situated
in a lovely position with uninterrupted sea views in this
small fishing village on the North Cornwall coast, this listed
fisherman's cottage has two bedrooms to accommodate up to
four people. There are plenty of things to do in the
area, both in Port Isaac itself, and along the unspoilt coastline
surrounding it. The safe beach at Port Gaverne is within
easy walking distance, and that at Polzeath is only a short
drive away. |

| The
Place |
Port
Isaac is a small fishing village on an unspoilt stretch of coastline
on the North Coast of Cornwall. It is within easy reach
of Polzeath (a sandy beach ideal for the family and well-known
for surfing), Rock (sailing in the Camel estuary), Tintagel
(of King Arthur fame) and many other places of interest.
Port Isaac itself has approximately 1000 inhabitants, a few
shops sufficient for normal family shopping, two public houses,
and several eating places. There is a small harbour used
by the lobster and mackerel fishing boats, where fishing trips
can be arranged. Within easy walking distance is Port
Gaverne beach which is absolutely safe for bathing. Port
Isaac is on an unspoilt stretch of coastline and the coastal
path is available for many interesting walks.

| The
Cottage |
| Eastcliffe
is an old fishermans cottage which has been completely
refurbished. It is situated overlooking the harbour
and within a stone's throw of it. Outside the cottage
at the front is a small paved area which is in an elevated
position overlooking the street leading down to the harbour
and the harbour itself. Garden chairs are provided
for visitors to sit out in this sun trap.
Downstairs
is one fairly large room with a kitchen area (fitted
units, microwave, electric cooker, fridge and dishwasher)
which is divided from the sitting area by a drop-leaf
table and chairs. The sitting area has an open
fire, and is provided with a sofa, easy chairs, colour
television, video and CD / tape player.
Upstairs
there are two bedrooms. The larger one has twin
beds, chest of drawers and a built-in wardrobe, while
the smaller room has a double bed, wardrobe and chest
of drawers. The modern bathroom has both bath
and shower.
The
cottage has full central heating and small heaters are
provided for occasional use during the summer.
The cottage is furnished for a maximum of four people,
though a cot can be provided. All linen is provided. We
regret that we do not accept smokers or pets.
Parking
presents a problem with most of the properties situated
in the old part of Port Isaac, but Eastcliffe is almost
unique in having a private drive leading up to the back
door, where there is adequate parking space, for one
or two cars only, immediately outside the door.
Bookings
are taken from Saturday to Saturday except in the very
early and very late season.

The
best pub locally for food is the Golden Lion (Tel.
01208-880336) 2 minutes away from the cottage in Port
Isaac, with a varied menu of good food in generous portions.
It has a good atmosphere, a balcony overlooking the harbour,
and is very child-friendly. For
a pub with a garden, the St Kew Inn in St Kew
(Tel: 01208 - 841259) has a big garden with tables
and a BBQ in the summer. It is a good pub with
several indoor dining areas as well. |

The
Slipway Hotel in the harbour at Port Isaac has
a good variety of excellent food. It is on two levels,
and overlooks the harbour with an outdoor eating area.
For
wonderful seafood, there are also Rick Stein's
famous restaurants in nearby Padstow. |
