Chipping
Norton - 1 1/2 miles east of Mill Cottage - is an attractive
small market town, perched on a hill overlooking the Glyme
and Evenlode valleys - a designated area of Outstanding
Natural Beauty. There are two small supermarkets, a delicatessen
and two traditional butchers; three cafes, an abundance
of pubs, several restaurants, including French, Chinese
and Indian and, of course, Fish and Chip shops! There is
a good information centre, a museum and a really wonderful
little theatre, which is worth a visit not only for its
programme of plays, music and film but to see the fabulous
murals which decorate the bar and gallery. Nearby you can
play golf or go horse-riding.
There
are wonderful pubs around here too - very old, with low
doorways, beams, flagstone floors, first class local beer
and excellent food. - And for children? - try the Cotswold
Wildlife park just beyond Burford; big game, reptiles, penguins,
owls, tropical birds, rare monkeys and insects! - or the
Rare Breeds Farm Park at Guiting Power for close encounters
with Britain's old-fashioned domestic animals - or the Falconry
Centre at Batsford - or the l9thC working farm museum at
Cogges, Witney. There is so much to see!
Centrally
positioned for Stratford-upon-Avon, Warwick Castle, Blenheim
Palace, Oxford, Cheltenham and Evesham, with Bath and Gloucester
also within easy reach, Mill Cottage is very close to Stow-on-the-Wold,
Moreton-in-Marsh, Chipping Campden and Burford -all famous
for antiques, and the Cotswold gems - Broadway, Bourton-on-the-Water
and the Slaughters. Visit the traditional brewery at Hook
Norton, or take a picnic to Bledington or to Broadwell and
walk over the old village green.

Cottage |
Dating
from C1800, Mill Cottage is fully centrally heated, double
glazed and furnished and equipped to the highest standard,
earning it an English Tourism Council Highly Commended 4-Star
rating. We provide not only all linen, towels etc. but plenty
of little extra touches to make you feel at home.
The
farmhouse-style kitchen, fully equipped and modern, displays
lots of period features. Take a rest in the window-seat,
the sun on your back, while you admire the sheer size of
some of the old flagstones! On the table you will find a
small collection of 'goodies' to welcome you.
Upstairs
are the comfy bedrooms, each with it's own character; and
the bath & shower rooms with their carefully planned
modern facilities.
In
the sitting room a wood burning stove will keep you wonderfully
cosy and warm during the colder weeks. Here, for your convenience,
we have installed a P.C. with broadband internet access.
Built
of local honey - coloured stone, the cottage stands in 3.5
acres of land, which includes a small holding where we keep
poultry and sheep. The lovely garden comprises lawns, borders,
trees, roses and herbs.
We
have lived here, close to Salford village, for almost twenty-five
years. Who could ask for lovelier surroundings or a more
convenient location?
