Living Accommodation
This delightful Georgian cottage is one of a picturesque row close to the church and overlooking a quiet square. It is very warm, comfortable and well-equipped, including all linen and towels. Charming enclosed garden and separate annex sleeping further 3 people. One of the best locations in Lyme, choice of two totally different beaches - one famous for fossils, each only 3 minutes walk. Conveniently located for shops including a truly wonderful baker just around the corner.
The cottage itself has one double bedroom, one twin-bedded room and one single bedroom and across the garden the "Boathouse" annex provides two further bedrooms (a double with a large king size bed which can be converted to two 3ft single beds and a separate single bedroom). Parking Permit supplied for parking in local car park (5 mins walk away). Open all year, Friday changeover. Pets Welcome. Free WiFi.
From the small entrance lobby a door leads into the living room (with Smart 43"4K TV), combining kitchen, dining and lounge areas in one spacious, light and practical room.
Upstairs there are three bedrooms; the master bedroom with double bed, wall mounted digital TV with 'Freeview', a twin bedded room and a single bedroom. The smart modern bathroom has bath and separate shower cubicle with power shower.
Opposite the bathroom, a door leads across the garden to the Boathouse annex. The pretty garden is fully enclosed, making it safe for small children and pets. Garden table and chairs are provided together with a barbecue area to make the most of the long summer evenings together with a pretty arbour for further seating. A gate at the top of steep steps leads to the kitchen back door and downstairs loo.
The 'Boathouse' annex, a few short steps away from the main cottage, provides two further bedrooms. Doors off the corridor lead to the fully equipped laundry with automatic washing machine and tumble drier and shower room with power shower, basin and toilet. The annex is ideal for grandparents who want a little bit of peace and quiet!

The Area: Lyme Regis, Dorset, Dorset
Lyme Regis is the perfect place for a family holiday and Appletrees has been equipped particularly with families in mind. When our own children were small the short level walk to the beach was a huge advantage. Within a few minutes they were scampering across Cobb Gate, down the steps onto the shingle, racing in and out of the lapping waters, and up again onto the long, lovely sea-front walk to the "Real Beach" - the glorious bay of golden sand which curves round and joins the celebrated "Cobb" and its tiny harbour. From the end of the Cobb - where you can literally see and smell the ancient history of this most romantic of Dorset's fishing towns - you can look back and see the panorama of colour washed buildings against their exquisite backdrop of wooded hills. Or, you can look out to sea and feel the power of the waves as they lash the outer wall of the Cobb. No wonder this was a place to inspire such writers as Jane Austen, Thomas Hardy and John Fowles.
What's so special about Lyme Regis? Firstly, the spectacular location of this former fishing town, nestling between the hollow of the cliffs and sea, overlooking one of the most beautiful bays on the British Coast. The quaint higgledy-piggledy lay-out of mostly very old buildings has remained unchanged for centuries, with remarkably little intrusion by new developments and not a whiff of the seaside seediness found in so many resorts.
Secondly, glorious variety of beaches - smooth sand, shingle, extraordinary shale slabs worn into a myriad of rock pools; the shallow sea, calm and sheltered for swimming, sailing, fishing and diving or whipped into breakers for windsurfing; - the long seafront with some of the oddest cottages you will see! - the cliffside gardens and mini-golf course, and the sweet little harbour, protected by the curving arm of the Cobb along which you can walk to visit the 17th C buildings and interesting aquarium.
Thirdly, fossils! Now excitingly granted World Heritage status, Lyme Bay has been internationally recognised as the most important lower Jurassic site in the world for the wealth of mollusc and ancient reptile remains, together with a unique topography of landslips, mud-flows and wooded cliffs.
Finally, walking. The area offers the walker many delights; long walks along the beach and most particularly the undercliff walk between Lyme and Axmouth, most of it through glorious woodland, a designated Site of Special Scientific Interest.

Beautiful, Cosy & Comfortable Property In An Amazing Location With Excellent Range Of Facilities
Although the occasion for us visiting Lyme was a sad one (we were attending the funeral of a dear family friend) our three-night stay at Appletrees was extremely enjoyable, it offered the perfect base for us to all be together as a family and make happy memories despite the sad reason for our visit. The property is in a perfect location, with gorgeous shops and galleries down each of the pretty streets leading off from it. The beach is less than 5 minutes walk away, about 10 mins for the Cob - extremely impressed with the location of this property and its close proximity to everything you could need during your visit. Lovely choice of restaurants, cafes, pubs and takeaways nearby also. The property itself is full of character, very tastefully decorated and has all the mod cons you could possibly want and then some! Having the annex is a lovely touch and offers extra space and privacy. The owner was also incredibly helpful providing us with lots of information and happily replied to my emails with any questions I had during our stay. Thank you for sharing Appletrees with us! We hope to visit again as a family and stay for longer next time! :)

Another Fantastic Stay In Lyme
Beautiful family feel to this extensive and well appointed cottage. We entertained friends including a young family across our 7 days and found the boat house space really useful to this end. Plenty of everything that is important from crockery to seating to games and books. Would recommend to all, best cottage yet in our four years of coming to Lyme.

Super Weekend
Hi Charles,
We are back from a super weekend in Lyme Regis and feeling relaxed. The weather was very kind to us.
Appletrees never fails to feel like home from home in one of our favourite places. The new fire in the sitting room was most welcome after a sunny but cold and windy walk along the Cobb.
The annex is looking superb, Josh commented that it was hardly recognisable. A lovely space. In warmer weather I'm sure we would have made use of the Arbour.
We hope to stay again soon.
Kind regards
Judith
