L’Ouche Aux Fleurs is a self-contained gite with private use of the swimming pool, shaded patio area and a BBQ - ideal for al fresco dining. The gite is located on the edge of a hilltop village in the tranquil countryside of the Charente Maritime. Outdoor games and table tennis are available for use. The ground floor of the gite comprises a spacious open plan living area, a kitchen with dining table, fridge and cooker and a bathroom with shower, basin and toilet. The sofa in the living room folds out into a comfortable, flat double bed and the first floor mezzanine bedroom has twin beds and wardrobe storage. The mezzanine level provides a beautiful view over the Charentaise countryside and fields of sunflowers to the neighbouring village of Paradis, literally 'Paradise'. Bed linen, bath and beach towels are provided. For an additional charge we can provide you with a welcome basket on arrival. If you tell us what you would like included we can make sure that you have food and drink stocked ready for when you arrive.
The gite is adjacent to the main house separated by a courtyard. We can provide you with any local information, advice or assistance you may need and access to wi-fi is available. Your stay is completely private and you will be left alone to enjoy yourselves unless you need anything. |

The village of Les Eduts is close to the Foret d’Aulnay amidst vineyards and fields of sunflowers, with plenty of opportunities for cycling, country walks or simply relaxing in the sunshine with a good book and a glass of wine. The adjacent village of Nere is a 15 minute walk away has a bistro and bar serving good quality fresh cuisine, a small supermarket, a butchers and an excellent boulangerie/patisserie. 10 minutes drive away is the ancient Roman Garrison town of Aulnay de Saintonge, with markets, shops and restaurants and its famous Romanesque church, once an important stop for pilgrims en-route to Santiago de Compostela in Spain. 20 minutes to the South lies St. Jean d’Angely with boulevard cafes and restaurants, indoor market and boutiques. Less than an hour away is the Atlantic coast with La Rochelle, Royan, the beautiful Ile de Re and Ile d’Oleron. There is wonderful seafood in abundance throughout the area. Cognac, the home of excellent brandy is 30 minutes drive to the South, and Futuroscope is one hour to the North near the historic city of Poitiers. The nearest airports are La Rochelle and Poitiers and nearest train station is St Jean D'Angély.

Gite rental prices 2011 from £250 – £700.Prices are per week in GB Pounds. Minimum charge in each date band is for 2 people, maximum for 4 people. Children under 10 are free. October to May £250 - £500 Prices include bed linen and bath and beach towels if required.
