La Mélinière is surrounded by beautiful, unspoilt countryside in the Loire Valley, just north of the River Loire. There are local Chateaux, magnificent churches and many grand old buildings for those who with an eye for classical architecture to visit and enjoy. Most towns are lively and colorful with outdoor markets at least once every week, where you can buy fresh local produce, immerse yourselves in the real sights and sounds of rural France and have a coffee at the pavement cafes. If you fancy a day on the beach, La Baule can easily be reached in just over and hour, or there is a man-made beach at a local reservoir about 30 minutes away with supervised bathing in high season.

Gite 1 (sleeps 6 people + 2-3 infants) has a large open plan area on the ground floor with lounge/diner and fully equipped kitchen with microwave, full oven, fridge and dishwasher. The lounge has widescreen TV (French channels only) and DVD player. There is also an open fireplace and central heating for winter lets. Upstairs are three bedrooms: two double bedrooms each with an extra single bed, (one bedroom has toilet & washbasin en-suite,) and a twin bedroom. There is an additional family shower room with washbasin and toilet.

Gite 2 (sleeps 2 people + 1 infant) has a large lounge/diner on the ground floor with double bed settee. The lounge has widescreen TV (French channels only) and DVD player, electric fire and central heating for winter lets. There is a fully equipped kitchen with full gas oven and hob. Upstairs there is a double bedroom, shower, washbasin and toilet room.

Domaine des Vignes is a little piece of heaven here on earth. Surrounded by acres of private woodland, and our own little vineyard it is the perfect base to explore the delights this diverse region has to offer, or simply relax and enjoy the gardens and Heated Swimming Pool. The endless kilometres of forest tracks are ideal for cycling, walking and spotting the wild boar, deer, or the many species of birds of prey. The famous chateaux of the Loire are just a short drive away, and the area has several excellent golf courses, fishing lakes and rivers perfect for all kinds of water sports. Saumur being the capital of equitation, there are plenty of places to go horse-riding, whatever your capabilities.

Our cottages have all been renovated, equipped and furnished to a very high standard. All have fitted kitchens with dishwasher, washing machine, hob, microwave/combi ovens and all the usual mod-cons we enjoy at home. All enjoy fta sat tv, dvd players and one even has Playstation 2! All are centrally heated making them ideal for winter lets too.

Anjou Cottage (sleeps 2) is the perfect retreat for couples looking for luxury and privacy, with its own private garden surrounded by box hedging over 150 years old. Chinon Cottage (sleeps 4) is perfect for a family of 4 or 2 couples sharing, with 2 bedrooms, original beams throughout, and views across the courtyard and woodland. Bourgueil Cottage (sleeps up to 6) is an extremely spacious cottage with 2 large bedrooms (z beds could be added), and by using the sofa bed this house can comfortably sleep 6. Saumur Cottage (sleeps 10) is a bungalow style cottage with 5 bedrooms (3 dbl,2 twin) and its own large private garden next to the pool with a childrens play area.

La Maison Blanche is the former barn for Chateau Langeais, a prestigious 15th century chateau with one of the oldest square keeps in France, a working drawbridge, a walk round the battlements with machicolations, a superb collection of tapestries and furniture. Langeais is a UNESCO world heritage site, and has everything to make your stay pleasant: market, post, train station, public swimming pool open in summer. There are several small lakes in the forest, which have sandy beaches suitable for swimming. Tennis, rugby, football. Theatre. Loire Valley: history, castles, wine, and great food.

Maison Blanche is the perfect holiday rental for families or friends - located just below the castle draw bridge! The front door opens on to an entrance hall with a beautiful painted mural of the castle of Langeais. The sitting room is beautifully appointed with a lovely stone fireplace and the traditional feature of beamed ceilings, large French windows and doors. This child-friendly property has 5 bedrooms (3 double, 2 twin), to sleep up to 10 people. Outside, there are 3 lovely garden areas with terraces: the courtyard entrance, the walled garden area overlooking the river, and the small garden terrace from the bedroom upstairs. The walled garden area has dining table and chairs, barbeque, climbing roses, and a lovely view of the river flowing past. All enjoy views of the Castle next door!
