About 1 hour
from Geneva, Chalet Basile is situated on the mountain side
at 1250m, above the beautiful spa town of St. Gervais-les-Bains,
with stunning views over the Val Montjoux and of Mont Blanc.
It is just a 5 minute drive further up the mountain from
the chalet to the ski schools and gondolas at Le Bettex,
taking you to the slopes and magnificent scenery above Megeve.

| The
chalet is a comfortable and well-equipped home, and sleeping
10, is ideal in size for two large families or a number
of smaller groups. There are five double bedrooms, three
with balconies, and three bathrooms.

The
Living Accommodation
The living area is open plan, with a comfortable sitting
area with an open fire, TV/DVD, and CD player. There is
a dining area with seating for 10, and a kitchen with cooker,
microwave, dishwasher and fridge-freezer. There is also
a cloakroom and plenty of cupboard space for outdoor gear.
Bedrooms
Upstairs
there are 5 bedrooms on two levels.
- Bedroom
1 is a double room with en-suite bathroom. It has a balcony
with a view over the valley and Mont Blanc, and has enough
space for a cot.

Bedroom 2 is across the landing, with bunk beds. These
are ideal for children, but are also big enough for tall
adults.

Bedroom 3 has a double bed, en-suite bathroom, and a balcony
with a view of the valley and Mont Blanc.

Bedrooms 4 and 5 each have twin beds.
There is a further bathroom with shower, WC and basin, and
additional storage space on the landing.
Basement
From the living area are stairs down to the basement where
there is a boiler room with washing machine and tumble dryer,
as well as a boot & ski storage area within the two
garages.
Outside
Outside
there is a good sized garden with spectacular views of the
valley and Mont Blanc and outdoor furniture for the summer. |

Skiing

The
surrounding area provides many additional skiing options - such
as Les Contamines, Les Houches or Chamonix - all on the Mont Blanc
pass.
Le
Bettex (and Megeve)
The car park at the village of Le Bettex is a
5 minutes drive further up the mountain to 1400m altitude, and
this usually has good snow.
There are nursery slopes, and two ski schools:
ESF (Francais), and the International Ski School. There are also
a number of shops, ski hire, bars and restaurants.
From Le Bettex, the gondola runs back down to
St Gervais or further up the mountain to 1800m. Chair lifts can
then take you to an altitude of 2300m. The local 'Domaine Evasion'
ski pass allows you to ski this area - down into St Gervais, over
the mountain to Megeve, and close to the peak of Mont Joly. There
are plenty of easy and wide intermediate slopes, as well as some
more challenging runs, many with views of Mont Blanc; and good
fast lifts.
Non-skiers can hire snow shoes at Le Bettex, and
ride the Gondola up the mountain for some great walking. There
are also good cross-country tracks from Le Bettex.
Chamonix
If you are after really challenging skiing, or
the snow conditions are variable, the 'Mont Blanc' regional ski
pass, covers both the local area, and many others around, including
Chamonix, Les Contamines and Les Houches, giving access to the
most demanding slopes, and off-piste powder. |

Summer
in The Alps |

In summer
there is some of the loveliest scenery and best walking in the
whole of the Alps.
During the summer, there is an open air Swimming
Pool, Tennis Courts, Sports Area, Children Play Areas, the Thermal
Baths & Luxury Treatments, ballooning, mountain biking (using
summer chair lifts), golf clubs (the nearest at Megeve).
From the door of the chalet you can climb Mont
Joly, and for the adventurous, St. Gervais is the recognised start
point for an ascent of Mont Blanc, initially via 'Le Tramway du
Mont Blanc'.
