Completely renovated cosy cottage in centre of picturesque and unspoiled Lakeland village, sleeps 2.

£250 - £380

English Tourism Council 3 Stars

In the very heart of the Lake District, yet a restful step away from the crowds of Windermere and Ambleside, the unspoilt Lakeland village of Elterwater is one of the most picturesque in the Lake District, and gateway to the famous Langdale valley. Indeed, as you come over the rise into Elterwater from Skelwith Bridge, you’re confronted with a typical Lakeland view: sheep grazing on the common in front of white-washed cottages with slate roofs, and the craggy peaks of the Langdale Pikes rising behind.

Set in the grounds of Meadow Bank, a stone and slate Victorian house in the centre of Elterwater, this entirely separate holiday home has been completely renovated and has new windows, a new kitchenette, new shower room, central heating, and new furniture and soft furnishings, without losing the character and charm of this cosy cottage. The open plan design provides a lounge area with comfortable wing chairs, 21’ Panasonic TV, video recorder and satellite system with Sky film and Sports channels, and a deep bay conservatory style window looking onto the rear garden; there is also a dining table which seats two people. The bedroom has a double bed, pine bedside chests and bedside lamps. The farmhouse pine kitchenette has a fridge, Stoves oven and 4-ring hob (including 2 halogen hobs) and microwave. Leading from the kitchenette, (separated by a door) a passage with a built-in wardrobe leads to the new shower room.

Converted 18th Century farmhouse in lovely valley with wonderful views and fell-walking from the door, sleeps 3/5.

    £260 - £440

    English Tourism Council 3 Stars

Come and de-stress in Wordsworth’s favourite valley, in a landscape little changed since his time. High Moss is an 18th century farmhouse in the fields of Turner Hall Farm, below the Coniston Fells, beside the ancient Walna Scar track. No. 2 is authentically furnished, has many original features, an open fire and views from every window. It has 2 bedrooms, sleeps 3-5 people and is allergy friendly.

Listen to the silence, broken only by birdsong and the sound of sheep grazing. Wander beside the Duddon, or climb a peak and then reward yourselves with a meal at the Newfield Inn, just under a mile from the cottage, (the hikers’ portions are legendary).

Children love the Herdwick lambs and the multi-coloured baby rabbits. There are several streams, waterfalls and the river nearby where they can paddle or swim. And you can make an expedition to Arthur Ransome’s Kanchenjunga, (Coniston Old Man).

The cottage is ideal for honeymoons. We give good reductions for 2 person bookings in off-peak periods, and even better ones for pensioners.

Elegant Grade II listed Georgian detached house with walled garden in famous ancient village, sleeps 8 + cot.

    £420 - £750

Looking like the sort of late Georgian house that Jane Austen might have lived in, this elegant Georgian detached house is set in a quiet lane on the edge of the ancient village of Cartmel, famous for its priory church, racecourse, village square and several notable pubs and restaurants. It is a Grade II Listed building and all its rooms catch the sun and overlook either the Priory church or the local fell - excellent walking and eating right on the doorstep! It was built on the site of the medieval tithe barn and is surrounded by a walled garden with a pond and stream.

Over the last fifteen years we have restored it to its former glory and revealed many of the original features. We have furnished it carefully to keep its charm and character, using period furniture and Laura Ashley fabrics. On the ground floor is a sitting room with colour TV, video, hi-fi and log fire, a dining room, a well equipped kitchen (including dishwasher, washing machine, drier, microwave etc), a breakfast room, and a scullery. The first floor has two double bedrooms (one with washbasin), a twin bedroom and a bathroom. Above is a large attic with two further single beds. Beneath the house are extensive cellars, an extra cloakroom, and a games room. Outside, the secluded sunny garden has garden furniture and a barbecue. The house sleeps eight comfortably, although we do offer discounts for couples.

Luxurious holiday home in centre of picturesque and unspoiled Lakeland village, sleeps 8/10.

    £590 - £2100

    English Tourism Council 4 Stars

In the very heart of the Lake District, yet a restful step away from the crowds of Windermere and Ambleside, the unspoilt Lakeland village of Elterwater is one of the most picturesque in the Lake District, and gateway to the famous Langdale valley. Indeed, as you come over the rise into Elterwater from Skelwith Bridge, you’re confronted with a typical Lakeland view: sheep grazing on the common in front of white-washed cottages with slate roofs, and the craggy peaks of the Langdale Pikes rising behind.

A stone and slate Victorian house in the centre of Elterwater, standing in its own mature gardens, Meadow Bank has been thoughtfully renovated and beautifully furnished to create a luxurious holiday home. Set back from the narrow road which runs through the village, behind an old stone wall, the front of the house offers fine fell views to the north-west, while the rear views are across open fields to the beck. On the ground floor is a large kitchen with breakfast bar, oven, hob, fridge/freezer, dishwasher, washing machine / tumble dryer and microwave, a huge living / dining room with pine dining suite and sideboard, comfortable sofas, and chairs, TV & Video (with Sky film and sports channels) and micro hi-fi system, and a separate sitting room with two folding beds and TV. On the upper floor are four bedrooms - one double with portable TV and en-suite shower room, second double, two twins - and two bathrooms.
