Apple Tree House is a very spacious, warm, sandstone terraced cottage in the quiet village of Ullock, just 4 miles from Loweswater and surrounding fells, with the stunning Ennerdale and Crummock Lakes close-by. This is the quiet, and many would say the most picturesque side of the Lakes, with many beautiful fells, lakes and tarns to explore.

Recently refurbished to a high standard the cottage has a dining kitchen and two double bedrooms upstairs, one en-suite with a large shower. The other double is arranged as a twin. There is a separate bathroom downstairs and central heating throughout. The rear garden faces south and is a sun trap from mid -morning.

The quaint market town of Cockermouth is a 10 minute drive and Keswick about 20 minutes. There are excellent pubs close by, the nearest in the village of Dean roughly 10 minutes walk or two minutes drive. The acclaimed Kirkstyle Inn is 10 minutes drive. Buttermere, Pillar, Eskdale and Wasdale are very accessible for the more accomplished walkers or climbers. Dogs are welcome by arrangement, but sorry, no smokers. Weekends and Short Breaks welcome, from just £150.

Charming 17th Century Grade II Listed traditional Lakeland cottage in the heart of Ambleside, sleeps 4.

This charming 17th Century Grade II Listed traditional Lakeland cottage is situated in the heart of Ambleside. It is convenient for all local amenities including a good selection of shops and restaurants and is also an ideal base for walkers. Windermere, Rydal Water and Grasmere are all within walking distance and Coniston Water and Tarn Hows are no more than a short drive from Ambleside.

The cottage has the benefit of full gas central heating. There are two bedrooms, a snug sitting room / diner with an open fire and colour television and video recorder and a fully fitted kitchen including a dishwasher and microwave. The bathroom has a mixer shower over the bath, a shaver point and a heated towel rail. Electricity, gas and coal are provided as part of the weekly tariff.

The small South West facing garden / sitting out area at the back of the cottage is a little sun trap. The nearest car parking area is about 50 meters from the cottage or there is one hour parking immediately outside the cottage.

HATTER'S COTTAGE, Hawkshead Hill, near Hawkshead, English Lake District
18th Century stone cottage in secluded location near the centre of the southern Lake District, sleeps 4.

150 metres from public roads, on a small farm near a hilltop between Coniston and Windermere lakes, Hatter’s Cottage is beautifully situated beside a small stream, surrounded by gardens, fields, orchard and woodland, with mountain views. The picturesque village of Hawkshead with post office, shops, and several pubs is 1 mile away. One can walk or cycle from the door in all directions on footpaths, quiet lanes and forest tracks. Mountain walking, boating, pony trekking and rock climbing are available nearby.

Heated throughout, this traditional cottage has been totally renovated, yet retaining character features such as the stone hearth and wooden beams. The cosy living room has windows at the front and back, looking out onto the cottage's private garden and to woodland where hens roam beside the stream. The living room has a settee, easy chairs and a colour television - the original fireplace with 'crane' for a kettle is a prominent feature (the kitchen provides more modern cooking facilities - a double-oven cooker and microwave!). The separate dining room has table and chairs to seat 4. Hatter's Cottage sleeps 4 people in two bedrooms, which have views across rolling farmland to the central Lake District mountains.

MOSS COTTAGE, Fell Dyke, Lamplugh, near Cockermouth
Cosy, former miners cottage with beautiful fell and valley views, open fireplace and visiting red squirrels, sleeps 4.

Located in the quiet little hamlet of Fell Dyke, at the foot of Blake Fell and a short and beautiful walk through woodland to the waters of Cogra Moss, Moss Cottage has a lovely little garden with views stretching South-West. Fell Dyke offers an undiscovered gateway to the stunning Western Fells and in addition to the many walks (including cycle tracks / pony trekking) accessed directly from the cottage, it is also very close to the spectacular Ennerdale, Loweswater and Crummock waters. Cogra Moss itself is a large lake below Knott Murton and Blake Fell, it is stocked with trout - fishing permits can be obtained locally. The Market Town of Cockermouth (Wordsworth's birth place) is located 7 miles away, while you can take one of 3 mountain passes across to Keswick - some 10 miles East.

Moss Cottage is fully equipped, including radio / CD player, TV, video, DVD, washing machine, microwave, electric central heating and an open fire place in the sitting / dining room. There is one large bedroom with king-sized bed (and wonderful fell-side views!); one smaller bedroom includes bunk bed with 'queen size' bottom bed looking over the garden and to the south, bathroom with electric shower and bath. The cottage has off-road parking, and Garden furniture is also provided.

Bush Cottage is located in the small, peaceful village of Tallentire, just outside the Lake District National Park, 3 miles from the bustling Cumbrian market town of Cockermouth. It is ideally placed to offer a base for those wishing to explore the beautiful lakes and mountains of the Western Lake District, or you could simply explore the North West Cumbrian coastline with its interesting towns and villages.

The cottage has been recently refurbished to an exceptionally high standard, and is perfect for those seeking a peaceful retreat within a small village setting. The cottage retains some of its original features, whilst being equipped with all modern facilities. The cosy living room has a wood burning stove as its focal point, and includes a TV, DVD and video. The dining room/kitchen area has been fitted out to a high standard, with a wood effect floor, a large pine dining table and chairs for 4 people, a dishwasher, washer/dryer, microwave, electric oven/grill, ceramic hob and integrated fridge with ice box. The kitchen comes with all the cooking equipment you will need. There is a radio/CD/tape player in the dining area. The stairway leads to a double bedroom with views to the Solway coast, a twin bedroom and a bathroom complete with bath/shower. The staircase is steep and may be unsuitable for young children and the elderly.

The cottage has its own secluded garden with a lawn, patio area, barbecue and outdoor table and chairs. The cottage benefits from full central heating; all fuel and power is included in the rental price. Towels, bedding and table linen are also included. Short breaks are also available.

Delightful traditional Lakeland cottage, idyllically situated in a secluded rural position next to Little White Moss Tarn. Sleeps 4.

The cottage is surrounded by woodland at the rear with stunning views to Rydal Water and Loughrigg Fell from the South facing garden (with decked seating) and first floor bedrooms. There are numerous walks to suit all abilities and ambitions some of which start directly outside the cottage. The cottage is situated in an elevated position on a quiet lane above Grasmere which is reassuring for families with young children. Adjacent to the garden is the off road private parking area with one dedicated parking space for each cottage. Tarn Cottages is no more than 10 minutes walk downhill to Dove Cottage and a little further to the centre of Grasmere. Rydal Mount is only one mile away along the bridal way that starts close by.

A number of original features have been preserved to maintain the charm of the cottage including slate flagged flooring, exposed beams and an open fire place. There two bedrooms (one double, one twin) both with views over woodland towards Rydal Water and Loughrigg Fell. There is an open fire and a colour television, video recorder and DVD player in the cosy sitting room. The fitted kitchen / diner is well equipped as well as cellar and outhouse. There are night storage heaters in all rooms. Additional electric heating appliances are available in case of need. Bed linen, tea towels and a bath mat are provided free of charge but not towels. These can, however, be hired if required. Coal and electricity are provided free of charge. There is a telephone for the convenience of visitors. Please note that we accept pets.

Brigham can be found just outside the Lake District National Park, 2 miles from the market town of Cockermouth, and just 4 miles from Bassenthwaite Lake. It is an ideal base from which to explore the quieter lakes and mountains of The National Park, and take in the attractions of the increasingly popular Solway Coast and West Cumbrian coastal towns and villages.

The Saddlery has been sympathetically converted to provide open plan living accommodation on the ground floor with a log burning stove forming the focal point of this room. The kitchen area is fitted out to a high standard and includes a dishwasher, microwave and fridge freezer. There is a washerdryer in a small utility room at the entrance to the cottage. The living area has a dining table and chairs for 4, and includes a TV, DVD player and CD player. The first floor has one double bedroom, a second bedroom with two single beds and a bathroom with a shower over the bath.

The cottage has its own parking space and a patio area with tables and chairs in the courtyard in front of the property. Barbeques are available for use. The Saddlery has the use of a traditional games room that includes a full size snooker table, table football and family games. The village has a childrens' playing field with play park nearby.

Friars Cottage is a delightful mid-terrace self-catering cottage in Keswick in the northern Lake District. It is located in a quiet area of the town, but is only 5 minutes level walk from the centre. The cottage has been tastefully refurbished with extensive use of exposed pine, and is equipped to a very high standard to cater for every need. It provides a comfortable base for couples or families of up to four to explore the Northern Lake District.

Downstairs the cottage has a very comfortable lounge/diner and a modern, well equipped kitchen. There is also a separate utility room with dishwasher, freezer, washer/dryer and WC. Upstairs is the main double bedroom which is furnished in attractive pastel shades, a second twin bedded room and a bathroom equipped with an over-bath shower. RUBY'S COTTAGE, Settlebeck, Sedbergh, Cumbria

Rubys Cottage is situated on the outskirts of Sedbergh which has recently been designated ‘Book Town of England’. The cottage, Grade II listed and part of a former Mill, has been renovated to a high standard providing cosy accommodation for up to four people, but due to the open beck (stream) at the rear the cottage is not considered suitable for children. Tastefully decorated the lounge has a traditional appeal with stone flagged floors, a range - including original ovens and open fire. There is kitchen, two bedrooms, bathroom, parking space and rear seating area by the beck with views to the surrounding fells.

In the immediate area The Howgills offer 40 square miles of walking country suitable for the beginner and experienced walker alike, with several summits of over 2000ft. Whilst at low level there are many picturesque walks by the local rivers of the Clough, Dee, Rawthey and Lune. Sedbergh offers a good range of shops for everyday use plus several specialising in a diverse range of books and memorabilia. A book related festival is held in August and September offering art, drama, literary and music events. The Lakes & Dales Tourist Information in Main Street has a wide array of visitor attractions and days out making Ruby’s Cottage an ideal base to explore the Lake District & Yorkshire Dales.
