Lake District Cottages

2 HIGH MOSS HOUSE, Seathwaite, Broughton-in-Furness, Cumbria
Converted 18th Century farmhouse in lovely valley with wonderful views and fell-walking from the door, sleeps 3/5.

£275 - £395

English Tourism Council 3 Stars

Come and de-stress in Wordsworth’s favourite valley, in a landscape little changed since his time. High Moss is an 18th century farmhouse in the fields of Turner Hall Farm, below the Coniston Fells, beside the ancient Walna Scar track. No. 2 is authentically furnished, has many original features, an open fire and views from every window. It has 2 bedrooms, sleeps 3-5 people and is allergy friendly.

Listen to the silence, broken only by birdsong and the sound of sheep grazing. Wander beside the Duddon, or climb a peak and then reward yourselves with a meal at the Newfield Inn, just under a mile from the cottage, (the hikers’ portions are legendary).

Children love the Herdwick lambs and the multi-coloured baby rabbits. There are several streams, waterfalls and the river nearby where they can paddle or swim. And you can make an expedition to Arthur Ransome’s Kanchenjunga, (Coniston Old Man).

The cottage is ideal for honeymoons. We give good reductions for 2 person bookings in off-peak periods, and even better ones for pensioners.
