Fawcett Mill is an idyllic gathering place for a large family or large groups of friends. It is perfect for reunions, get togethers, Christmas/New Year/Easter celebrations, or a relaxing break away from it all. Summer or winter the environment and scenery is stunning.  

 
The Property Overlooking the quiet, unspoilt Howgill Mountains, Fawcett Mill is hidden in its own tranquil valley, with a stream running from an adjacent waterfall through 7 acres of meadowland.  Built in 1794 as the mill owner's house, it is furnished in comfortable country style, with oak beams and open hearths throughout.  It is equipped to a very high standard with full gas central heating, fitted carpets and the benefit of a three-person sauna and a sunbed.  Outside, as well as barbecue areas, there are extensive terraces and patios bordering the stream.  
In detail, the accommodation comprises:-
  • Ground Floor lounge, with comfortable seating, TV, video, radio and log fire;
  • Spacious dining / living room with Victorian range and dining table seating 16 people;
  • 3-person sauna and sunbed;
  • Two fully equipped kitchens, between them including dishwasher, washing machine, drier, microwave, hob, oven, fridge, freezer and a gas-fired Rayburn cooker;
  • Upper lounge, with TV, video, radio and double futon and double settee bed, to sleep up to four people.  
  • Seven bedrooms - 3 double bedrooms, 3 twin bedrooms and 1 family bedroom (with twin beds and additional double bunkbed)
  • Two bathrooms;
  • Two shower rooms;
  • Four w.c.'s.    
 
The Area The 7 acres of open countryside in which the house is located is hilly with some steep slopes and drops from the terraces to the stream and there is no physical barrier between the house and stream, waterfall and open countryside.   

The location is ideal for hill walkers, with easy access to the Howgill mountains and fells. The Coast to Coast Walk passes through our local village of Orton where "The George" is a popular stopping off point, being mid-way between the Yorkshire Dales and the Lake District National Parks.  The village also has a chocolate factory and tearoom. The network of small country lanes and villages is popular with cyclists.  

Appleby is about 12 miles, Kendal about 14,Penrith about 16 all with easy access to both the Lake District National Park and The Yorkshire Dales.
