Chalet Location / Ski Area - Les Contamines & The Mont Blanc ski region, including Megeve, St Gervais

The chalet is situated in a quiet setting close to the centre of the picturesque Savoyard village of Les Contamines, at the end of the pretty Val Montjoie, and next to the Mont Blanc Massif, of which there are fabulous views from the ski slopes.

Located in the heart of the world famous Mont Blanc Region, Les Contamines is one of the worlds most snowsure resorts with fabulous skiing. With 120 km of uncrowded pistes between 1200 and 2500m there is superb skiing for all levels. It has special features for snowboarding, and excellent, safe, off-piste access. The slopes are easily accessible with the lifts only a few minutes away in the chalet vehicle. There are numerous cosy and welcoming mountain restaurants to sample the local dishes.

As well as skiing and snowboarding the village offers ski de fond, snow scooting, guided snow shoe (raquette) expeditions, ice skating and dog sledding.

For the more adventurous skiers, the breathtaking Vallee Blanche above Chamonix and the famous Les Grands Montets glacier run at Argentiere are within easy reach. Indeed, none of the 14 resorts of the Mont Blanc Region are more than a 10 to 40 minute drive from Les Contamines.

The après ski atmosphere is relaxed and friendly with plenty of traditional Savoyard bars and restaurants. This year saw the opening of a classy gastronomique restaurant L'O a la Bouche, with its 'cool' city style ambiance.

Les Contamines - winter and summer resort

With worries about the impact of global warming on ski resorts, an important aspect to consider is the summer appeal of the resort, especially if you are intending running the chalet as a business. As a traditional Alpine village, Les Contamines does genuinely have year round appeal, with the shops, bars and restaurants not closing down for the summer as they do in purely winter ski resorts.

Spring and summer see the Val Montjoie become a colourful and peaceful haven, ideal for complete relaxation or to enjoy the many activities available in the village. Twisting in and out of the pine forest, alongside the lovely Bon Nant river, a pretty path leads you to the natural park area, well away from any traffic. Here there are 8 championship tennis courts, adventure courses, a rock climbing school, horse riding, donkey rides, archery, golf driving and mini-golf, with a bar and restaurant overlooking a boating lake and a beautiful new swimming lake with sandy beach. The village lifts are open in July and August for hikers - mountain bikes are accepted too! The valley is a renowned walking area, and part of the Tour de Mont Blanc hike.

Other more exciting activities such as rafting and paragliding are available close by in the Mont Blanc Region. St Gervais, just 10 minutes away, has an open-air swimming pool. Days out to Chamonix, Annecy, the Mont Blanc Tramway and the breathtaking Aiguille du Midi cable car are all within easy reach of the village by car.
