Stunning Remote Scottish Highland cottage in beautiful isolated glen - a perfect retreat for relaxing, walking, fishing and wildlife. Sleeps 8/10.

£700 - £1200

A unique experience of isolation and luxury! This remote Victorian hunting lodge was originally designed for Victorian gentlemen and their servants to lodge whilst stalking on the remote hills of the Estate. Set in the atmospheric Glenuaig, valley of red deer and eagles, it is about one hour's drive due west of Inverness, followed by 30 minutes drive on a track (4x4 or hire of one essential) into the mountains, away from all civilization. In few places on earth will you feel so at peace with the natural world.

The unassuming stone exterior blends in with the surrounding Munros, but hides a stunning interior beautifully designed to be in sympathy with its origins and location - and fully equipped for total comfort. With its own micro-hydro electricity, it has 3 reception rooms, fabulous kitchen with dishwasher etc., bathroom, shower-room, separate wc and 4 twin/double bedrooms; the second sitting room can be used as a further double bedroom if required.

Glenuaig Lodge is surrounded by Munros and Corbetts for the hill walkers, a six mile gentle valley for the less energetic, wildlife for the naturalists, and there is a Site of Special Scientific Interest to the South. The drive or gentle walk in has fabulous views across the Torridon Mountains. The Estate is about forty minutes from the West Coast and in an ideal central position for exploring the Highlands and tourist spots to all four sides. One well-behaved dog may be welcome by prior agreement.

Luxurious holiday home in centre of picturesque and unspoiled Lakeland village, sleeps 8/10.

    £600 - £2050

    English Tourism Council 4 Stars

In the very heart of the Lake District, yet a restful step away from the crowds of Windermere and Ambleside, the unspoilt Lakeland village of Elterwater is one of the most picturesque in the Lake District, and gateway to the famous Langdale valley. Indeed, as you come over the rise into Elterwater from Skelwith Bridge, you’re confronted with a typical Lakeland view: sheep grazing on the common in front of white-washed cottages with slate roofs, and the craggy peaks of the Langdale Pikes rising behind.

A stone and slate Victorian house in the centre of Elterwater, standing in its own mature gardens, Meadow Bank is beautifully furnished to create a luxurious holiday home. Set back from the narrow road which runs through the village, behind an old stone wall, the front of the house offers fine fell views to the north-west, while the rear views are across open fields to the beck. On the ground floor is a large kitchen with breakfast bar, oven, hob, fridge/freezer, dishwasher, washing machine / tumble dryer and microwave, a huge living / dining room with pine dining suite and sideboard, comfortable sofas, and chairs, TV & DVD and micro hi-fi system, and a separate sitting room with two folding beds and TV. On the upper floor are four bedrooms - one double with portable TV and en-suite shower room, second double, two twins - and two bathrooms.

National winners of the English Tourism Council's Excellence in England Gold and Silver Awards for Self-catering Holiday of the Year 1998 and 2003, Bruern Holiday Cottages are the finest, not just in the Cotswolds but in the whole of the UK: they offer the comfort and attention to detail of a good hotel; the privacy, independence and space of home; and the civilised ease and style of English country house living. That's why Bruern Holiday Cottages are the five star luxury benchmark for the most important and prestigious national and official UK inspection organisations.

When she designed them, the owner's criterion was that they should be places in which she would like to live permanently, and our guests clearly agree, since they tell us that they never want to go home. They say that there's nothing better than arriving at the cottage, tired after a long journey, to find the lights on, fire ready, a beautifully laid tea tray with a cake waiting on the table, a bottle of wine in the fridge, and the candles just waiting for a match.
