Positioned
at the junction of the Morzine and Abondance valleys, this chalet makes
a good base from which to access the ski slopes of these two valleys.
It should appeal to those who want to enjoy good skiing, but also avoid
the high costs and often cramped living conditions provided in the centre
of ski resorts.

Ski
Chalet Accommodation |
| This
typical old Alpine chalet/farmhouse, dating from 1847, has
been beautifully restored to include modern amenities, whilst
keeping its original character intact. It is situated at a
height of 800 metres in a tranquil and charming Alpine hamlet
midway between Morzine and Thonon-les-Bains. The house is
spacious, comfortable and airy, with panoramic views from
its windows to Mount Hermone and as far as the Swiss Jura. |
| |
|
The
living area is on three floors - the most important room
being the large lounge/kitchen on the second floor created
out of what was once the barn. The original beams are
still in place, together with pine-parquet flooring, wooden
ceilings and white walls.
The
room is heated by a cosy wood-burning stove around which
easy chairs nestle.
The
kitchen and eating facilities are conveniently grouped
in one corner of the room, and a French window opens onto
a balcony-terrace for meals outside and sunbathing.
|
|
| |
|
| The
five bedrooms, distributed on various floors, consist of
three doubles, a twin and a single. The bathroom contains
a bath, shower, washbasin and WC.
Outside
is a small patio/garden, and there is parking next to the
house. |

| The
Area |
The
house is situated at the junction of the Morzine, Abondance and
Hermone valleys and makes an excellent base for excursions into
them.
From
the chalet:
- It
takes 15 minutes by car to the slopes of the Col de
Corbier, Drouzin le Mont - a small, unpretentious resort
with 6 lifts, ski school and ideal for beginners.
- 20
minutes by car to La Grande Terche, St Jean d'Aulps
- a family resort with 14 lifts, ski school and good nursery
and intermediate slopes;
- 25
minutes by car to lifts at Les Linderets, near Montriond, which
access the Portes du Soleil - a gigantic Franco-Swiss
ski region with 650kms of runs and 228 ski lifts - one of the
largest ski areas in the world!
- It
is also possible to reach the ski resorts of Morzine,
Chatel, Les Gets, Abondance and Chapelle d'Abondance
by car in less than 30 minutes.
Chalet
Taylor is equally attractive in summer. Both the Morzine and Abondance
valleys are very beautiful Alpine valleys providing splendid walking
country. There are open air swimming pools at Morzine, Chatel,
Thonon les Bains and Evian.
You
can swim in Lake Geneva, Lake Montriond and at La Bernaz (a small
lake heated by an underground stream which is remarkably warm
for a mountain lake!). White water sports (rafting, canoeing)
can be practised at several points along the River Dranse, minutes
from the house. Mountain bikes can be rented, and there are tennis
coruts in Abondance and Morzine.
Thonon
les Bains and Evian are agreeable spa and lakeside towns. Excursions
can be made to Annecy, Chamonix and Mont Blanc. Lausanne in Switzerland
can be reached by paddle steamer from Evian, and Geneva is about
an hour away by car. |
|
|
| Getting

car to Thonon les Bains, then 10 minutes drive up the Morzine
valley.
By
