These two charming characterful gîtes are set in two acres of grounds, along with the English owner’s home, 3km from the small town of Plessala. The area is rich in history, whilst the forest and River Lié are ideally placed for rambling, cycling, bird-watching, fishing or sketching. There are plenty of good places to eat locally and several interesting markets for traditional shopping along with easy access to a choice of larger shopping centres, sporting facilities and tourist attractions. |

Gite Accommodation |
Our
aim is to ensure the gîtes at La Fontaine Rouillé
are places we would choose for a holiday ourselves. You have
space to yourself, but we are on hand to answer any queries
you may have to help you make the most of your holiday. Each
gîte has been comprehensively equipped to cater for long
or short stay guests at any time of year. Both are totally separate
entities with their own private outdoor facilities; however,
subject to availability La Petite Maison - sleeps 4 The charmingly updated traditional Breton cottage houses a two bed roomed gîte for up to four people, arranged as one double and one twin room. All the accommodation is on one level, which is approached up a few steps from the south facing grounds.
Off the hallway is a roomy dual aspect kitchen-diner fully equipped for four people to cook and eat in comfortably. Opposite is a separate light and airy sitting room with chestnut flooring, sofas, wood burning stove, television and DVD. Either side of the hallway are the two wood floored bedrooms which have working shutters – ideal if you want a lie in. Finally there is a very spacious tiled shower room. The mature sunny garden has a multitude of flowering shrubs and several fruit trees and views across the neighbouring fields to Loudeac Forest; there is a built-in barbecue, and table and chairs to enable you to make the most the outside space, the boundaries of which are fenced, tree bordered or walled creating an enclosed private garden for the exclusive use of cottage gîte guests. La Longere Apartment & La Longere - sleep 2 and 6 The ancient stone longere is accessed via a traditional Breton arch leading into the entrance hall which is open to the full height of an original A-frame, this along with the gnarled oak beams, reveals some the structure of this sympathetically restored farmhouse that now provides a character gîte with lots of modern comforts.
La Longere Apartment (Ground Floor) - sleeps 2 Off the large hallway is a well-equipped open-plan kitchen area with window seat, and opposite is a separate, spacious, dual aspect living room with dining area and comfy sofas, a wood burning stove, television and DVD. French doors lead from the sitting room end of the room onto the terrace which is for the exclusive use of longere gite guests. Also opening through French doors to the rear is the ground floor double bedroom with adjacent shower room, making this property an ideal option for any guests wishing to avoid stairs; whilst also providing a lovely romantic hideaway for couples, who can walk out to breakfast on the terrace while taking in the surrounding countryside. La Longere (Ground and First Floors) - sleeps 6 For larger parties of up to six the gite extends upstairs; off the galleried landing, where some of the oak beams can be seen from above, there is another double bedroom and a spacious twin bedroom, each having its own ensuite shower room and continuing the character of the building there are exposed A-frames throughout. This is an ideal gite for parties of friends or families wishing to share living accommodation but wanting their own private facilities. Outside from the rear terrace, with built-in barbecue, garden table and chairs, there are magnificent views out over our large grassed paddock which has some apple and oak trees on its border, across open countryside to the river valley and distant forest beyond. |

Bedrooms all have wardrobes, chests, mirrors and chairs, with both low or high tog duvets provided according to season; one infant bed (size 140 x 60cm) and high chair may be advance reserved in addition to the existing beds (subject to availability). The living rooms have wood burners, televisions receiving UK free-to-air programs and DVD players together with a variety of books and board games. There is a separately accessed storage room available for walking boots, golf clubs, fishing equipment and cycles (including 2 bicycles available for guests to use); along with a laundry area for the exclusive use of gîte guests. | The Area | La Fontaine Rouillé is an ideal spot for a barbecue, relaxing with a book and a drink, watching the bird life, sketching the scenery, cycling around the country lanes, strolling beside the nearby river or taking a longer ramble into the forest. This really is a chill-out zone, but with a thriving village close by and near enough to good markets, restaurants, several exceptional historic towns, inland lakes with plenty of activities or the scenic north coast beaches and golf courses, there are plenty of options for everyone.

Half an hour in any direction brings an enormous range places to visit. North to a range of picturesque sandy beaches and coves filled with sailing boats between Erquy and Cap Frehel, where the “Viking” castle with magnificent views tops the cliffs close to Pleneuf Val-Andre’s famous international standard golf course. East to Dinan or Josselin wonderfully preserved walled medieval cities with castles, winding streets and really individual shops. South to Pontivy a pretty Napoleonic canalside market town with a Chateau, or west to Lac de Guerledan, Brittany's inland lake district with beaches, wind surfing, boating and lake tours. Alternatively take a trip along the Nantes to Brest Canal; we are roughly half way between both those large cities, so either direction has many attractions available. |
