French Gites Morbihan Brittany

Les Peupliers has been sympathetically restored, carefully preserving its original features. The floors are of ceramic tiles whilst the ceilings are constructed of wood beams which have been left exposed throughout. Rooms on the ground floor have open fireplaces or wood burning fires, although electric heating is also available for use outside the summer months. The gite has been equipped particularly to suit the needs of families with young children.

The large lounge, with French windows looking out over the garden, is comfortably furnished, and includes UK Sky system TV, separate French TV, DVD/VCR, as well as a selection of toys and also some children’s books and board games. For adults we have a library of over 200 hard back and paperback books. In the basement there is a half size snooker/ pool table and a dartboard.

The gite has a good sized, well appointed, kitchen and a large dining area with dining table to seat 8. The kitchen is well equipped with electric cooker, fridge, dishwasher, washer / dryer, double sink and a central island / breakfast bar. There is ample kitchen ware and crockery for self catering.

Above the lounge is a large mezzanine bedroom with a double and two single beds, while above the kitchen and dining room area are two further good sized bedrooms. Altogether there are three double beds, six single beds and a cot. There is also a high chair, stair gates, baby buggy/ pushchair, baby monitor, bottle sterlizer, and baby bath & changing mat. There is a selection of toys to suit younger family members.

There is a large bathroom with bath, bidet, wash hand basin and separate shower cubicle. There are two separate toilets on different floors, the upstairs one with wash hand basin.

Outside there is a large patio with BBQ and garden furniture. The garden extends to half an acre mostly laid to grass.

The gite is situated in a quiet hamlet just a few miles from the very attractive small town of Josselin ( see picture below) famous for its imposing chateau close by the river. In the nearby village you will find the local baker, butcher, bars, post office, restaurant, and church. In Josselin there are supermarkets, branches of leading banks, shops, and an excellent selection of restaurants and bars. There is also a large traditional market in the town most Saturday mornings throughout the year.

The Morbihan area is one of rolling wooded countryside rich in flora and fauna including red squirrels. There are chateaux to visit and the historic walled city of Vannes is a 20 minute drive away. There are beautiful beaches at Carnac and along the Quiberon Peninsula within easy reach as is the Presqu'ile de Rhys and other attractive beaches at Sarzeau, Damgan, and St. Gildas. The popular resort of La Baule is about an hour away. There are also many interesting sites as evidence of the area's rich Celtic heritage.

Facilities near to the gite include a large indoor watersports centre at Vannes, ten pin bowling at St. Ave (10 miles), ice skating also at Vannes. There is an open air pool in Guegon. At nearby Ploermel there is a lake with water sports facilities. The area is ideal for walking, cycling, touring or days on the beach.

Golf - There are many excellent courses within easy reach, in particular we would mention Ploermel, St. Laurent, and Baden. There is a brochure in the cottage giving full details of all the courses in the region.

Cycling - The immediate area is ideal for cycling and we have a total of 8 cycles, mostly mountain type bikes with 15,18,& 21 gears, available at the modest additional charge of £5.00 per bike per week. For £25 per week you can have unlimited use of all our bikes. All cycles are adult sized and therefore only suitable for persons aged 13 years and above. There are child seats attached to two of the bikes.
