| The Area |
Situated in the Eden Valley, an area of outstanding natural beauty, Temple Sowerby is an ideal base for touring both the Pennines and the Lake District. Also known as the Queen of Westmorland it is a very welcoming and relaxing village. There are some spectacular views across the Pennines and Cross Fell, the highest peak in the Pennines at 893m above sea level. Walking in the fells, cycling, fly fishing at Blencarn, lake cruises, canoeing and sailing on lake Ullswater are just a few activities on offer in the area. There are golf courses at Penrith, Appleby, Keswick and Brampton. As well as all the many tourist attractions in the Lake District, more locally there is the National Trust property Acorn Bank Garden and Watermill which is walkable from the cottage and Eden Ostrich World just a short drive away. You can also experience what is claimed to be one of the top 10 drives in the World on the A686 to Corbridge, via Alston. However, if you just want to relax and unwind,
our pretty cottage is overlooking the village green with its children’s
play area and the rear garden backs onto open fields with views
of the Pennines in the distance. As well as a pub in the village
there are many other lovely villages nearby with a range of pub
and restaurant food. |
