Living Accommodation

Noddsdale House is situated in extensive grounds surrounded by gardens and although some areas are private, they can be admired and enjoyed, with benches in shared areas, for enjoying the views. You can walk up the hill behind the house, which on a good day, gives marvellous panoramic views. There is an all weather tennis court which you are welcome to use - do bring suitable footwear and racquets!

The East Wing is the original Guest wing of the house and is quite different. It is full of character and charm. There is one bedroom and one bathroom. The sitting room has the most lovely pitched roof and the woodwork is beautiful. There is a double sofa bed as well as a sofa and several chairs. There is an open fire. Views over the rock garden and to the Clyde make for a peaceful scene. The kitchen/dining is well appointed and there is a hall which has an extra bed if required, although 4 people is the maximum.

We welcome children of 10 and over, but regret we do not allow pets.

Facilities

The Area: NODDSDALE HOUSE, Brisbane Glen, Largs, Ayrshire, Ayrshire

Situated 2 miles from the centre of the bustling seaside town of Largs, Noddsdale is a hidden secret! Largs has many different restaurants and coffee/tea shops, independent gift and clothes shops as well as some well known ones. The ferry runs over to the Island of Cumbrae every 15 minutes in the summer and 30 minutes in the winter. There you can hop on a bus into Millport, hire bicycles and ride around the island - 11 miles or so - and stop for a ice cream at Fintry Bay, or have a refreshment in Millport on your return. The Cathedral of the Isles, the smallest Cathedral is the venue for some summer concerts on a Sunday afternoon and well worth a visit.

Largs has two golf courses, a yacht haven, Kelburn Country Park, putting greens, a swimming pool, a theatre and several churches, one of which is a Heritage centre, a Museum and of course a supermarket or two.

The Island of Bute can be accessed by ferry from Wemyss Bay and Mount Stuart House visited. Hop on a bus in the town of Rothesay and be transported to the visitor centre from where you can either walk or be taken by tractor and trailer to the house and garden. The Island of Arran is also a ferry trip away. This time from Ardrossan, and visit Brodick Castle, the distillery at Loch Ranza, or just enjoy a drive around the island.

Ayr is an hour to the south of Largs - the county town. Further south is Burns country, Culzean Castle and Dumfries House, which was saved for the nation by Prince Charles. To the north is Loch Lomond and the Trossachs, or to the West, Argyll with gardens and castles to visit. Edinburgh can be reached by train via Glasgow from Largs too. There is plenty to do and see when you stay here!
