Le Grenier Gite, La Ville Josse, Plessala, Cotes-d'armor, Brittany, France

This character Breton barn conversion, located just 3km from the small market town of Plessala, has been refitted to provide holiday rental accommodation ideal for families of up to six, or two couples sharing a holiday.

Situated in spacious grounds with far reaching rural views over the valley and nearby forest, this traditional gite is on one level, with one step down from the living room into the well equipped kitchen-diner which has a gas cooker, fridge, microwave and washing machine. The light, airy, open plan sitting/dining room has TV with British free-to-air channels, DVD player and wood burner (with child guard). French doors open onto a sun trap patio area with gas barbecue and garden furniture.

The accommodation is very comfortable for parties of 4, with two good sized bedrooms, one double and one twin, and a bathroom with full size bath and shower over, vanity unit, and WC. However, larger families can also be accommodated as there is also a box room furnished with bunk beds and a child's wardrobe; a small supplement applies to cover additional bed linen if required.

The plot is safe for children and pets, most of the half acre garden being grassed with hedged surrounds, and there is plenty of parking directly alongside the house. The sheltered terrace is at the rear of the house and is accessed directly from the sitting room. A travel cot (please bring your own linen) and highchair are available on request.

Le Grenier Gite is a wonderful place for a holiday in the Breton countryside. There are also a whole range of activities possible in locality, including:

FISHING - can be enjoyed on the River Lie which runs through the valley below Le Grenier, on the lake in Plessala, and on larger lakes in several nearby towns. Daily and weekly licences are available.

HORSE RIDING - is a popular local activity, with an excellent school in the forest nearby, both ponies and horses are available, accompanied treks are organised. There is also a national Harass at Lamballe which offers regular guided tours, including english commentary in high season.

WALKING - be it a gentle stroll, a couple hours walk, or a full day's ramble whilst reveling in the local flora and fauna there are marked circular trails around the commune of Plessala, beside the river and into the forest.

KAYAKING - is available just 5km away at the local natural sports base, where both individual kayak hire and accompanied river trips can be booked. A little further away Lac du Guerledan offers a wide range of water sports.

CYCLING - is a particularly popular pastime in this area, follow the path of the former railway line or cycle beside the river; further afield the Nantes to Brest canal has a level cycle path alongside.

EATING OUT - there is an excellent creperie in Plessala, and a variety of auberges and restaurants within a 15km radius of Ville Josse offering everything from moules-frites, medieval feasts (costumes optional) to five course gourmet dinners. At lunch times the menus du jour, normally offer particularly good value, seasonal cooking.

SIGHT-SEEING - this an excellent touring base, the central location allows guests to enjoy the many and varied attractions of this friendly region of France without having to travel great distances.
