La Plagne is 50 on the 21st December 2011!
La Plagne 50 Year Anniversary Half Price Ski Deals
Hard to believe, but it’s 50 years since La Plagne first hit the ski scene, and we’ve got some fantastic half-price offers to enable you to get out there and join in the fun!!
La Plagne is celebrating its 50th birthday by undergoing a major facelift - opening a brand new spa & pool complex in Montchavin Les Coches, opening a new 6-man lift in Champagny, increasing their snow cannon coverage, and an exhilarating new sledging track in Plagne Centre, which goes from the top of the Colorado chairlift, is 1500m and drops a total of 250m. Plus there will be an evening of entertainment and fireworks on the evening of 21st December.
The new pool complex ‘l’Espace Paradisio’ in Montchavin will have some excellent relaxation facilities on offer for all the family after a day out on the slopes. Montchavin has always been a ‘family friendly’ resort and has won the “Famille Plus”award for its efforts and in the new complex, there are fun and games for the children too.
With great views of the slopes, the pool complex has a big spa pool, Turkish baths, a sauna, infrared therapy, a cold plunge pool, a jacuzzi, a play area for children and a health and beauty parlour.

The winter is fast approaching, snow has fallen across the Alps and we are all in anticipation of a great winter. Already the high altitude snow levels are looking good and are a fine omen for the start of the 2010/11 season.
The official opening date for Chamonix’s Lifts is 4th December. It had been hoped to open some lifts at weekends prior to this date but unfortunately the warmer temperatures of the early November had not been favourable for producing any great quantities of snow. However a huge drop of snow fell on the night of 25th November both on the mountains and in the town. Therefore the Ski lifts on the Grand Montets were opened on the weekend of 27th November 2010, and in the Brevent-Flegere area, the Planpraz gondola is open now. If you have not been to Chamonix before, then you will be in for an exciting skiing holiday. Chamonix is a small town of about 20000 permanent residents and this number swells to 100000 in the peak season when the tourist arrive in the resort. Chamonix valley starts at Les Houches, a small village with it’s own ski lift and area. Five kms. further up the valley is Chamonix and Argentiere which offers a range of skiing levels at high level and spread over 5 main lift areas.
Chamonix Town is a lively resort with many restaurants to serve all tastes and pockets as well as a casino, sports centre with a great swimming pool. There is plenty to do after skiing or even for the non skiing visitors.

Chalet Doux Abri is located just a 12 minute walk from the centre of Morzine, and has the luxury of a sauna, hot tub and log fire. Sleeping 10-14 people in 6 bedrooms, it offers guests a relaxing and comfortable stay with contemporary modern comforts.

Understated luxury in Chamonix
I’ve always been a great fan of having a good bit of space to rattle around in while enjoying a skiing holiday, even if you’re not the largest group in the world, so we’re delighted to have this lovely chalet on board, as it fits the bill very nicely indeed!
First of all then, it’s got 4 bedrooms, all of them ensuite, and all of them bright, clean and spacious. You also won’t be short of space in the living areas either, with the option of the main living / dining room with a roaring log fire, massive French doors and windows, and stunning Mont Blanc views, or alternatively, the second living room / Games Room, with large flat screen TV, DVD and Wii.
The only decision really after a good day on the slopes, is whether to start off with a sauna and then relax in the outdoor hot tub, or do it the other way round, knowing that you’ve got a delicious 3-course dinner with wine to follow….
