Facing open farm land Sunny Cottage is at the end of a small terrace of cottages, in a perfect area for walking, with walks along the banks of the river Blyth to nearby Walberswick, and a ferryman will row you across the river to Southwold, or you can cross by the old  Bailey bridge.  Caught in a gentle time warp Southwold gently refuses to be commercialised and with its high street of small shops and galleries is still one of East Anglia’s best kept secrets.

The Cottage

Like many other people, we have rented holiday accommodation and sometimes known the disappointment when the promised holiday cottage turns out to be less than 'inviting'.  So when we decided to let Sunny Cottage, we spent a great deal of thought ensuring that it not only comes up to, but hopefully surpasses your expectations.  By taking advice from professional organisations, we've tried to ensure that everything you need for a restful holiday is there!!

Sunny Cottage sleeps four adults plus a baby, and pets are welcome by prior arrangement.  The cottage is double glazed and there is oil-fired central heating for the cooler seasons.   Sunny Cottage is pet friendly!
     

Ground Floor

  • large kitchen with oven, microwave, fridge / freezer, washing machine and all the equipment and utensils you should need;

  • separate dining room

  • lounge with log fire and TV;

  • family bathroom with hip bath / shower, basin and wc.

  
     

Upstairs

  • steep cottage stairs leading to landing bedroom with twin beds

  • leading to the main bedroom with Four Poster bed. 

  
     

Outside

  • Sunny Cottage has a small enclosed garden and off road parking.

  
The Area In mediaeval times the village of Blythburgh was a major wool port, but the River Blyth is no longer navigable, however the legacy of greater days is still seen in the imposing presence of Blythburgh Church, "the cathedral of the marshes" which is floodlit at night.  

Just down the hill from Sunny Cottage is the White Hart pub, with its impressive roof beams, reputedly from a dismantled Man 'O War, which offers a friendly atmosphere with Adnams Ale, bar snacks at old pine tables and a separate dining room; it is both child and pet friendly.  

The village shop and Post Office is next to the White Hart.

During the winter season the cottage is available for mini-breaks - £170 (minimum stay 3 nights)
The rates include electricity and bed linen, but we ask you to bring your own towels.  Please also bring a torch, as we have no street lights in Blythburgh!
