Meribel
- Les Allues |
|
| |
|
|
| |
Les
Allues is a pretty traditional village, quiet & tranquil with
walks starting right from the chalet door. Its steep narrow roads
lined with old Savoyard buildings, a baroque church with clock
bells which ring out across the valley, give this friendly village
its rustic charm, making it a perfect mountain holiday retreat.
The mountains really come alive in the summer and Meribel–Les
Allues offers a huge range of activities such as: Golf, Tennis,
Rock climbing, Horse riding, Walking/hiking (guided if you require)
mountain biking ( some of the lifts are equipped to take bikes
!) Adventure Park, Olympic leisure centre, fishing, para gliding,
river rafting, language courses. For kids, a huge range of activities
for all ages including care at a crèche.
The
great thing about Les Allues is that it is a real, thriving community,
with real people actually living there (unlike most soulless purpose
built resorts)! It has a good commercial centre, including a ski
shop, a supermarket, and a souvenir/tabac shop. There is also
plenty to do at night, with four excellent bars/restaurants (see
below). Les Allues now offers a real alternative to the main resort,
for those seeking a less frenetic holiday location. The village
also has a British run créche and nanny service.
For
eating out, there are four bars & restaurants in Les Allues:
La Tsaretta (British owned – and one of the most characterful
restaurants in the Three Valleys) offers a large evening menu
including Thai starters and tasty main courses. The bar is a lively
venue with live bands twice a week and the famous Mutzig Old lager.
La Crois Jean Claude is a hotel with a renowned restaurant serving
many choices of Savoyarde food. You can relax in the quiet bar
for a pre-dinner drink and soak up the local atmosphere. La Chemina
is a popular restaurant at the entrance to Les Allues. It offers
a wide range of steaks cooked on an open fire and local dishes
including fondue, raclette and tartiflette. La Chaumiere is a
recent addition to this thriving village, offering quality meals
in a calm ambient atmosphere, making it the ideal place to escape
on a winter's evening.
Méribel
itself is on the doorstep, and offers an abundance of shops, bars,
discos & restaurants with something for everyone!
