Catered Chalets Courchevel

One of the best known French ski resorts, Courchevel is a popular destination for skiers from around the globe, having as it does the most extensive and varied skiing in the Three Valleys network. Of late it has gained notoriety thanks to the invasion of rich Russians driving up prices of chalets and restaurants, although it remains a good destination for ski holidays to suit lesser budgets.

The resort itself comprises four separate villages, Courchevel 1850, 1650, 1550 and Le Praz, each of which has its own character. The highest of these, as the name suggests, is Courchevel 1850, which for many years has been the playground of rich Parisians, who are now joined by their Russian counterparts, there to enjoy the extensive (and expensive) nightlife and restaurants on offer. Courchevel 1650 by contrast is much quieter, with an attractive village centre, yet still with decent bars and plenty to do in the evenings. Sitting just below 1850, Courchevel 1550 again is quieter than its uphill cousin, with a range of cheaper accommodation. Finally, Le Praz, at 1300m, which is more of a traditional old village in a woodland setting.

In terms of catered chalets Courchevel offers a wide range of options to suit most budgets, although a ski holiday in Courchevel is never going to be a budget exercise!

Beautiful refurbished wooden chalet-style apartment, just across from the piste in Courchevel 1650. Sleeps 6-8.
