Ruggles Cottage is a four bedroom conversion of the staff hall on the historic Dunira Estate. The setting is around 0.5 miles off the A85 between the attractive village of Comrie and St Fillans, on Loch Earn, just east of the Trossachs National Park. As a centre, it is hard to beat; dramatic tree covered hills in the immediate surroundings, Loch Earn, Killin, Glen Coe and Oban to the west, Stirling, Edinburgh and Glasgow to the south, Crieff, Perth, Dundee and St Andrews to the east and north through the Sma’ Glen to Aberfeldy and Pitlochry. Each journey travels through some of Scotland’s finest scenery. Numerous walks abound and the observant visitor may see buzzards, red kites and red deer all without getting into a car. You can often see red squirrels in the wood from the sitting room windows.
Created out of the estate meeting hall, visitors enter the large sitting/dining room with a handsome wrought iron spiral stair to the upper floor. There is a dining table and chairs to one side, and plenty of comfortable seating around the wood burning stove to the other side. The galley style kitchen has been recently totally re-designed and is well fitted out including a pantry/utility room. The back door off the kitchen leads into the courtyard. There are two twin bedroom down stairs and a bathroom with and electric shower over the bath. One further small room has bunk beds suitable for children only. A beautiful wrought iron spiral staircase leads to a mezzanine landing and upper floor master bedroom with en suite bathroom.
Bed linen and towels are included in the price of the let. Ruggles has both night store electric and panel heating and a wood-burning stove. Electricity and logs are included in the price of the let.
Plenty of entertainment is provided for the family in the house. There is a large selection of books and a good collection of children's games. The master bedroom has its own Freesat television while there is also a large screen television in the sitting room. A Blu-ray player, WiFi broadband access and a wireless speaker system complete the entertainment package.
Across the lane Ruggles has its own small sunny garden which is totally self contained and is as child and dog safe as possible. Visitors are free to use the summer house and barbeque and enjoy the babble of the Boltachan Burn alongside.

There is no need to travel far from Ruggles Cottage however for activities and entertainment. There are fine 9-Hole Golf Courses at St Fillans and Comrie, with 18-Hole courses at Crieff and Gleneagles. Comrie Crofts caters for mountain bikers and outdoor pursuits and there’s a wild life park at Auchingarroch. Sail and waterski on Loch Earn, take a short stroll from the house, walk in Glen Artney or Glen Lednock or scale one of the nearby Munroe’s such as Ben More or Ben Vorlich. Eating out in Comrie offers excellent alternatives for day and evening and there’s a choice in St Fillans too.
