A convenient 2 hours from Glasgow you can make your accommodation at Ellary & Castle Sween a base for seeing Scotland. From here you can make a day trip to most of the features which have made Scotland famous including Glasgow and the lowlands in the South, Fort William and further to the North and most of middle Scotland as far as Perth to the East.
Whichever direction you take you will drive through the loveliest countryside. The scenery makes the drives themselves worthwhile.
Ellary & Castle Sween is also the correct choice for those who seek the peace of the countryside, and many do not venture beyond the boundaries of the Estate itself during the whole of their stay.
The Malabar and the three Lochead Chalets are situated at the head of Loch Caolisport with lovely views down the Loch. They are all wooden structures with large verandahs.
Malabar is the largest of the group and has two bedrooms, one double and one twin. There is a fully equipped fitted kitchen with washing machine, and a living room with a lovely view of the sea.
The Lochead Chalets also have generous verandahs and two bedrooms - one double and one with full size bunks. There is a kitchenette off the living room and a shower in the bathroom. The large living room windows have beautiful views across the head of the loch, making them especially popular with bird watchers and anglers.

As well as the fantastic views to enjoy, there is a wealth of other activities in the local area. The Crinan Canal is nearby - with a towpath running right from Crinan to Ardrishaig it is perfect for cycling along. The Lochgilphead Golf Club just half an hours' drive away is responsible for a very interesting nine hole course on the rolling hills just behind the town, and other golf courses within an easy drive include Tarbert, Oban, Inveraray and Machrihanish. Tarbert is a pretty fishing village, and from here you can get ferries to Portavadie and some of the islands. Campbeltown is a slightly longer drive, but worth it to visit the beach at Machrihanish. Oban is just over an hour away, and offers lots of shops, the sealife centre, distilleries, and the opportunity to take a ferry to the islands. Inverary you will likely have passed through before you arrived - there is a Castle, the Old Jail, Auchendrain Museum, and an outdoor centre (offering horse riding and paintball etc) here.
